GenCon lawsuit
An interesting tidbit:
http://www.icv2.com/articles/home/1
To summarize:
GenCon failed to uphold its legal obligations in terms of financial reporting, accounting and payments to Lucasfilm ($500,000 in damages)
GenCon did not give auction proceeds to Make-A-Wish as they had agreed to do ($150,000 in damages)
GenCon did not give Lucasfilm their share of the auction proceeds ($150,000 in damages)
GenCon profited by this unjustly ($150,000 in damages)
Oops.
Lucasfilm donated items to GenCon for the charity auction and helped publicize said auction. It looks like GenCon kept the money instead.
This could be messy. If I'm not mistaken, GenCon is owned by Wizards of the Coast, which is owned by Hasbro, which holds the licensing to make the Star Wars toy lines.
Somebody seems to have screwed a very nasty pooch in a very big way.
After some research, I have discovered that it's an independent company now. It USED to be owned by WotC, but was bought out in 2002.
